We buy great businesses to support management transitions and provide growth capital to profitable companies. We avoid marketed processes, real estate, commodities, businesses too small to recruit a great CEO to, or industries we wouldn’t be proud to tell our kids we are invested in. We are active in discussing strategy, supporting business development and coaching executives at a board level; we are involved but not operational. We require teams that can execute, products that provide value to the end user, alignment of interest and leadership that takes care of its employees.
